This is an introduction to writing a narrative. This lesson plan has two in class assignments/activities for students to 1) familiarize themselves with the parts of a narrative by participating in class discussion and then identifying the parts of a narrative in practice using a highlighting activity. 2) Students will use the conflict model provided in the lesson plan to begin constructing the outlines of their own narratives.
This lesson plan adheres to the CCSS:ELA 9-10.3
For this lesson, the teacher will need to choose a short story to print off and allow the students to highlight either individually, in groups, or pairs. Angel Girl: Parts of a Narrative Assignment
