This simple story map will help primary students learn the parts of a story as well as reinforce retelling strategies.

I have used The Three Little Pigs graphic elements to help students recall what each story part means. By including this visual, students can refer to this well known story and relate/compare the elements to a new story read.

1 story map in color
1 story map in b/w
4 headers to create a classroom anchor chart.

Teacher Tidbits:

I use this graphic organizer as a simple Reading Lesson in my Sub Tub. This is a quick and easy lesson for a substitute teacher to implement in your absence. I include a class set of the story map as well as a Fable Anthology for the substitute teacher to choose a Read Aloud from.

You can also use this story map in your Listening Center. This is a great way to assess their understanding of the story elements.
