This is a set of 2 graph puzzles that I use to introduce graphs to my students at the beginning of the year. I print the files on cardstock, and cut the graph sheets apart on the dotted lines. I place the labeled background sheet along with the matching graph pieces in a baggie.
To ‘build’ the graph, I read off one of the labels and have the kids find the piece they think will match. We discuss what it is and the information it provides. After completing both puzzles, we compare them, focusing on how the data section looks different but they have the same elements. It is an engaging and unique way to introduce graphs to your students.
