Parts of an Atom APP Worksheet
Use this handout to guide students through a FREE CHEMISTRY APP that can be used on any Apple device that is both entertaining and educational.
The APP name is NUCLEAR. The image is a black square with a blue bohr model within a circle. The app is a great tool for students to add subatomic particles and watch the atom change properties. Adding too many protons or neutrons results in instabilities and decay. The graphics are very captivating! Students truly enjoy using this app and discovering the effects of adding or removing subatomic particles. You can also monitor student progress through the periodic table within the app.
The handout guides students through the app and ensures that they are understanding subatomic particles.
Allow students about 10 minutes to play with the app before providing the handout. If students do not have an apple device, they can easily work along with a partner or the teacher can project the app.
This also works as a great substitute plan for parts of an atom.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the app or the handout!
