Parts of the Circle Complete Lesson

In high school geometry we start to get to the minute details of circle concepts, and to do so we need the proper vocabulary to discuss parts of the circle. This lesson includes notes, worksheet, interactive online activity, and a quiz. Answer keys are provided, and the following vocabulary is included:

Center
Radius
Diameter
Chord
Secant Line
Tangent Line
Point of Tangency
Minor Arc
Major Arc
Semi-Circle
Tangent Line Theorem

The notes, worksheet, and quiz also include arithmetic- and algebra-based practice at measuring arc lengths in degrees, as well as verifying tangency using Pythagorean Theorem. The format is Word 2007/2010, using the equation and drawing canvas tools for easy editing of headers, instructions, diagrams, and the mathematical expressions. PDF copies are also included for quick-and-easy printing.

You can supplement this lesson with the interactive activity at http://math.abbysdoor.com/parts-of-the-circle, which is also packaged up and included in this download for offline use or making customizations. Instructions to customize the activity are included in the readme.txt file.
