This lesson can be modified for many different uses in the classroom.
This is meant to be the direct teach portion. I have included an answer key and a powerpoint presentation that goes along with it. It’s a great way for students to get the information that they need in order to be successful. These notes can be incorporated into their Interactive Science Notebook by trimming them and having the students glue it in on two different pages.
There are few different ways to modify the use of the Microscope Puzzle/Diagram.
1. As a group or partner activity, where the students use the card sort to label the diagram. The teacher would check to see if it is correct.
2. As an individual activity. Students would write name of microscope part next to arrow.
3. As a interactive notebook activity. The picture would be glued into the notebook and part name and function would be written by the arrow. Any of these would be great for the students, it’s just how YOU would like to adapt it to your classroom.
Microscope Part and Function Table:
The best way to use this would be as an addition to the interactive notebook, side by side with the Microscope Puzzle/Diagram.
The card sort can be used as a review of the parts of the microscope or as a part of a foldable (basic format included). The name cards can be used as part of the Microscope Puzzle/Diagram to label the parts.
There are so many uses for these activities and they can be adapted for many grade levels.
