Pasado y Presente del Subjuntivo- Practice and games to practice tense changes in the Spanish Subjunctive
These are activities to guide students in practicing tense changes in the Spanish Subjunctive. The activities are designed for students who are not yet proficient with all of the tenses and thus the questions are designed with limited options to guide student choices- for example in several activities the students must conjugate the verbs in either the present subjunctive or the imperfect subjunctive allowing them to focus on tense rather than tense and mood.
1 multiple choice activity with 18 questions that the students have to choose the correct verb in the present subjunctive, present indicative, imperfect, imperfect subjunctive, present perfect, present perfecto subjunctive, pluperfect, pluperfect subjunctive
3 fill in style activities where the students must conjugate the verbs in the present or imperfect subjunctive (10 questions each)
1 activity where the students have to change the six sentences from present to past
2 games/ class surveys- the students go around the class asking students the questions on the sheet changed into the tú form ( instead of who would do ...., would you do...../ ¿Responderías tú en clase como si entendieras?) If the person says yes to the question they write their name in the square. They try to fill up the grid with one name per square/ question. They may sign their own name once and may only put down other people's names once. You can extend the activity by asking the students what they learned about their classmates and ask the student who said yes to the question a follow up question.
- the first game sheet has questions with si clauses and como si
- the second game sheet has questions written in the imperfect and pluperfect subjunctive
An answer key is provided for the activities.
These activities has worked well at the end of Spanish 3 and in upper level courses.
