Description

Engage your reluctant readers and writers with this Passion Project Unit (also known as Genius Hour or 20% Time), for both in-person OR digital learning. This unit takes students through a series of interactive and engaging activities that teaches them the "why" behind passion projects. Then, students follow a Passion Project Plan Template and begin working. Students direct their own learning - what they learn, how they learn it, and how they show what they learned.

This is approximately a 3 week unit. During the first week, students engage in purpose-building activities like:

* What do meaningful, real-life learning experiences have in common?

* Reflect on the gap between real-life learning and school learning

* Explore your strengths and interests to find your Passion Project topic

* What are the benefits and challenges of inquiry-based learning?

Then, students create their Passion Project plans, document their learning, write, and and create final products. The experience culminates in student presentations and final reflections.
