Students have such a difficult time identifying and correcting passive voice in their writing.
I have created an activity that provides a brief discussion of passive and active voice, examples of each, and instructions on how to identify and fix passive voice in one’s own writing.
There are 50 sentences containing passive voice.
Students are directed to identify the passive voice and rewrite the sentence using active voice in the space provided.
To add a little content to the activity, the sentences refer to an historical fact,
---eg. “ Pluto was reclassified as a 'dwarf planet' in August 2006 by the International Astronomical Union.”
