The following is a PDF of the "passport" that students can create for an explorer. (Leif Erikson, Amerigo Vespucci, Juan Ponce de Leon, Jacques Cartier, John Cabot, Christopher Columbus were a few of the explorers investigated by the students). Not only did the students create a "passport," but they also made their work antique looking by burning the edges and dying their paper with tea. Students shared their work in groups that included one student researcher for each explorer. This was a very engaging activity that took at most 2 class periods to complete! Great activity to teach students that Christopher Columbus may not have been the first to explore the Americas!
