This lesson plan is designed to teach students how to analyze patients signs and symptoms in order to assign transportation priorities.
The MFRI EMT curriculum does not spend much time going over the process of analyzing and assigning priorities and this lesson plan is designed to fill in that skill gap.
This lesson gets students up and moving, visualizing patients, creating cheatsheets, brainstorming, analyzing tricky scenarios, working in teams, and completing a writing assignments aligned to CCSS standards. This last assignment is incorporated in order to help develop cross-curricular skills, help raise up low writers, or simply appeal to those students who prefer to learn through writing.
There are lots of practice scenarios, games, and questions incorporated to ensure students have interacted with the protocols sufficiently and moved all direct instruction into their permenant memory.
