Do you want an inferencing activity that will engage your students? Inferences aren't always the most fun skill to teach. This activity will make learning how to make an inference both fun to learn and teach.
In this activity we are making real world connections by connecting it to how doctors make inferences when they diagnose their patients. That is exactly what your students will get to do during this activity, play doctor!!
This learning opportunity lends itself well to theme days and room transformations. Just add some cheap, but fun props such as table cloths, gloves, Dr. badges, etc. and you will have a whole new learning experience.
In the download you will receive 2 patient files, 6 illness descriptions, recording sheets, answer sheets, and cover page.
Students are expected to read through the patient files and corresponding illness descriptions. The will use the collected information to make an inference and diagnose their patient.
This activity is perfect for advanced 1st graders, on-level 2nd & 3rd graders.
