EVERY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!
This 25 slide PowerPoint introduces students to human trafficking, the subject for Patricia McCormick’s novel Sold.
The ways in which children are recruited, the reasons why adolescents are targeted, and much more are answered on the PowerPoint.
I have included some photos to give students a visual of the victims and the conditions in which the victims live and endure daily.
Included on the PowerPoint are 20 literary terms students will study and apply to the novel. Two activities are included as well, one of which is on a handout.
Students will also listen and watch a music video which will give students a visual of the material presented.
Students are captivated by this lesson as many have never heard of human trafficking. Students are made aware of the dangers of being manipulated by traffickers as many Americans have fallen victim to this crime.
Watch the surprise on your students' faces when they understand why certain clothing retail corporations are able to sell clothing so cheaply!
This topic will provide even those quiet students a desire to ask questions and provide their own opinions! I have had some lively conversations!
This is a powerful lesson!
