Text Talk is an approach to interactive read alouds that is designed to enhance young children’s ability to construct meaning from decontextualized language. (Beck & McKeown, 2001; Beck, McKeown, & Kucan, 2002). Text Talks are a great way to get students engaged in literature!
You can use this lesson as a whole group interactive read aloud or in your book club. It is perfect for students from 2nd - 3rd grade.
The lesson plan "Christmas Tapestry" by Patricia Polacco provides: Learning Targets, Assessment, Anticipation, Prediction & thinking beyond the text, Story Vocabulary, Focus on Random Acts of Kindness, Sketch-to-Sketch, Character-Map, and the Text Talk guide. The exit ticket, Prediction, and Character Map are free downloads.
It is another beautiful story by our favorite author!
