This lesson begins with class members reading a story about the Patriot Act on page 96A. Afterwards, students answer two Thought Questions, which help develop critical thinking skills. You can then discuss their responses.

Next, all papers with the Patriot Act story are collected and replaced with page 96B. This page contains the same story but with missing words, names, and terms. Students must do their best to recall what they learned from the reading to fill in the missing words in the story.
