This resource includes recording sheets for students to write important and interesting facts, fill in the blank notes, facts to sort, and decorative writing and drawing paper to facilitate a patriotic symbols research assignment using informational books for four different patriotic symbols: The Statue of Liberty, The Washington Monument, Mount Rushmore, and The White House. Students could work alone or with a partner. This project would take about 8 days to complete if students worked on it for 20 minutes a day. I split my class into 3 groups so I designated an hour each day to help students with this project. You could also do these assignments as a whole class and spend a week for each patriotic symbol that interests you. We did this assignment to supplement our Social Studies learning, but this could also be a good project to do around President's Day or Memorial Day. The photos are public domain.
