Children identify hidden collection of pattern blocks by using deductive reasoning and descriptive clues.
This was adapted from a lesson I use to develop mathematical language and problem solving in a math work station. I set it up as a 20 minute exploration station with a bucket of pattern blocks and the tasks cards. I put the answers in envelops that can only be opened once everyone has an answer and has justified it with their group.
I took the lesson and made it a work station with task cards, so it is important that you spend some time in group to discuss the activity and how they worked through the problems.
Also a time for them to share any riddles they wrote to add to the work station.
Please rate my work and view my other pattern block activities.
