Pattern Problem Activity - 45 Problems = 375 Cards!
This 61 page file is a great patterning activity for a maths station or centre! It is designed to be used with Kindergarten and Year 1.
There are three versions of this activity included in this file:
- 7 Card Pattern Problems - ABABA (designed for Kindergarten)
-10 Card Pattern Problems - ABABA (designed for Year 1 or advanced Kindergarten students)
- 8 Card Pattern Problems - ABCABC (designed for Year 1)
HOW TO PLAY:
Cut out all cards to form sets of 7, 8 and 10. Do not mix up the cards; keep the cards from each page separate. Students are given a set of 7, 8 or 10 cards (depending on ability). Students must form a repeating pattern with the cards (i.e. ABABA or ABCABC) and identify the cards that do not belong in the pattern - the rouge cards. Students record the card pattern that they create and also the rouge cards that they identified. Students may record their answers on the worksheet provided or in their mathematics workbook. Once completed, students pack their cards back into the box/container/bag that they came out of. Students may then pick another pattern problem and repeat the same process.
