I always do a short unit on patterns at the beginning of the year in Math. It is hands on, fun, and makes everyone feel successful.
I place these cards in my Math centers and the students can choose the level of difficulty they want. They range from very simple patterns with 2 repeating attributes, through more challenging patterns with more attributes. The students must build the unit indicated on the card, then reproduce it to produce a train. Once the train is built they can draw it on their recording sheet and circle the original unit.
There are 20 different repeating patterns included in this set.
