Product Description

These writing lessons teach Kindergarten students how to write books with a pattern (i.e. "I like pizza. I like grapes."). The unit also includes printable writing paper, posters, writing rubrics, and more!

------

This 3-week unit will help you teach your students how to write books with a pattern (similar to the level A/B books they are reading).

The lessons guide students through creating repetitive books, with a pattern such as "I like" or "I can." Not only will this unit advance your studentsā€™ writing skills, but it will also support their development as readers, since they will be working with emergent-level books as mentor texts. This unit is best taught during the first half of kindergarten.

Hereā€™s what the unit includes:

- 14 clear, detailed minilessons (that tell you what to say and do)

- Tips for structuring the writer's workshop

- Printable writing paper

- Common Core alignment

- Rubrics and checklists

- Printable posters and alphabet chart

Common Core alignment is included, but many classrooms that do not follow the Common Core Standards still use this unit.
