PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Patterning: This set of patterning centers and problem solving patterning activities is perfect to use during Math Centers.

This product contains two products:

Math Centers for Patterning:

Provide practice during your Patterning unit with these Math Centers. There are 10 Math Centers to use during your Math Center or Guided Math time. Most activities are suitable for working on your own and with a partner.

This product aligns to the Ontario Grade 1 Curriculum but is also suitable to meet the common core standards as well.

These are the centers included:
√ Can You Match It? Extend the Pattern – 3 ways to play
√ What Piece is Missing? – 3 ways to play
√ Is it a Pattern? – Look at each pattern card and determine if it shows a pattern or not. Color thumbs up for yes and thumbs down for no.
√ Sort those Patterns – Sort the pattern cards on the mat that shows the correct pattern name
√ Pattern Match – Play it like concentration. Turn all the cards over and match the pattern strip to the pattern name to get a match.
√ Make It! #1 – Take a Make It card and create the pattern named on the card.
√ Make It! #2 – Take a Make It challenge card and create the pattern using the instructions on the card.
√ Spin a Pattern – Students spin the pattern name spinner first and then spin the letter spinners that are necessary to build the named pattern.
√ What’s My Rule? Match the pattern rule card to the pattern that fits that rule.
√ Pattern Clip It - 2 different cards - clip the missing piece or clip the pattern name

Problem Solving with Pattern Blocks - Patterning Problems.

This includes 3 sets of problems that can be solved with pattern blocks. Each set has 5 different problem pages.These could be used as part of a
★math center
★independent math time
★desk work as part of Math groups
★assessment piece completed independently or as part of a math interview for assessment.
This package will help you meet the curriculum needs in the Ontario curriculum for Grade 1 as well as Common Core Standards in the US: identify and extend, through investigation, geometric repeating patterns involving one attribute
