This patterning resource makes a fun math station or math center for Patterns – just add dice. Students can work through all the sheets at their own pace, or you can assign one to two stations a day as you introduce a specific skill or concept to the class.
Patterning concepts include increasing and decreasing number patterns (addition, subtraction, multiplication), patterns on a 100 chart, patterns on a calendar, and input/output tables.
You could photocopy the sheets to have each student complete and hand in for a formative assessment, or you could laminate the sheets and use with dry erase markers for a practice station. The last page in the package is more of a review and designed to be handed in for a formative assessment.
To differentiate, or provide an extra challenge, you can use two different sets of dice – a standard set with 1-6, and a challenge set with higher numbers (whenever I pull out these “fancy dice” and call them the challenge set, my students ALWAYS want to try them out). Just remind the students that using these dice would result in higher numbers.
