Product Description
Students will learn about the artist Paul Klee, his abstract art style filled with symbols, and its relationship to the Blue Rider and to children's art. Students will create a castle in pencil, watercolor, marker, and crayon for display. Students are guided to analyze the painting “Castle and Sun” by Paul Klee according to the art elements and principles , focusing on expressive color. Then, students will draw a castle and full moon in pencil using geometric shape templates as guides, paint it with watercolors in mostly cool colors to express coolness, nighttime, and fantasy. They can add details by sprinkling salt onto the wet paint to suggest falling snow, outlining the castle with a sharpie marker for definition, and creating patterns or accents with metallic or glitter crayons to suggest that the castle sparkles in the moonlight.
