PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will read, analyze, and translate Longfellow's poem, "Paul Revere's Ride" and do the same with Paul Revere's personal account of that night from a letter he wrote to a friend. Both pieces are broken in to chunks where students can read, highlight, and then summarize the text in their own words in smaller pieces. Students will take their thoughts and summaries and use them to compare and contrast the two accounts of that infamous Midnight Ride. Working with primary source material can be difficult for elementary students and this lesson will require teacher guidance. There are questions and writing prompts to accompany this lesson.
