Every Friday, I teach my students a lesson on financial literacy. This includes going on job interviews, learning interpersonal skills, writing checks, organizing a budget, and balancing a checkbook.
This is the pay stub worksheet I give to my students. One side is a sample of what a pay stub would look like, simplified to include the four greatest deductions and their percentages. (Because I work in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin state tax is included. However, this is a PowerPoint document, so this is easy to change.) The other side is the same sheet, only blank. This is where my students calculate the amount of money they make after taxes, based on the fake jobs they choose in class.
