This printer-friendly activity packet is part of a series to make speech therapy activities for the gamers on your caseloads. The sheets in this bundle are especially great for students who like Plants vs. Zombies™.
This packet contains 80 worksheets, with pages targeting /θ, ð, s, z, l, ɹ, ʃ, tʃ, dʒ/. Each speech sound, with the exception of /ð/, has pages targeting it in initial, medial and final position, as well as mixed sheets.
This packet includes two levels of difficulty for each word position. Level 1 sheets have predominantly mono- and bisyllabic words with simple word shapes, and the words were selected because the other consonants tend to be early developing. Level 2 sheets have target words with a greater variety of word shapes, word lengths and phoneme composition. (The evidence basis for this division of target words is included in the preview and in the download.)
These sheets can be used for word, phrase and sentence level practice. Students can read out/imitate their word, use a carrier phrase (e.g. “I pick ____”) or make up a sentence using that word.
How to Play
1. Select a sheet based on your client’s current articulation goal.
2. Have the client select a pea, then read the word or imitate your production.
3. After a successful production, have your client squish a ball of play-doh over that pea.
A fun way to extend this activity and to increase the number of productions is to have clients squeeze a ball popper after each successful production. My clients love the poppers from Hog Wild Toys®.
