These notes are a great way to incorporate personal behavior reflection, accountability and goal setting – all skills students need throughout their lives. The notes can be tailored for your individual class needs. Here are some suggestions:
*It is a great way for the students to see and write about how they are displaying leadership qualities.
*There is writing involved, but it is a minimal amount, which is a good way to get the reluctant writers involved.
*I have included notes for reflection when students haven’t shown their best leadership qualities. This is the first step in accepting responsibility for their actions.
*This is built on the concept of what a leader truly is and not what students often think a leader is – i.e. always getting their way, dictator, etc.
*Goal setting and problem solving can be incorporated into the lessons on a daily/weekly basis.
*The blank notes can be used as reminders, notes home, little pick-me-ups when you see a student trying to do their best.
How the notes are used really depends on the dynamics of the classroom. How they are used can also be tied to Common Core Standards.
A Goal-Setting Lesson Plan is included.
