Product Description
These 50 quotations by U.S. presidents, Nobel Peace Prize winners, and other famous people will get your students thinking about the meaning of peace and how to achieve it. There are 3 writing prompts that can be used with the quotations and an assessment rubric is provided so you can easily evaluate your students' responses. (This is the Google Drive™ version of a Print resource; click HERE if you prefer the Print version.)

These quotations are ideal if you need a short writing task for your students at the end of a period. You can also have your students discuss the prompts in small groups or pairs. You can use these quotations in a language arts class when you are reading a novel whose theme is war or peace. Or you can use them in a writing center. Other ways your students can use these quotation posters is to do research about the people who said the quotes or categorize the quotations based on the occupations of the people or on the themes of the quotations. Since there are quotations by people from all over the world, you can also use them in a social studies class and match the people to the regions or countries your students are learning about.

The quotations are of varying lengths and text complexity so students with a range of reading abilities will be able to use them. English Language Learners can respond to the quotes that are very short and use simpler language. Students at higher reading levels can work on the longer and more difficult quotations.

Each quotation is on 1 Google Slide™. The text of the quotations is color-coded for your convenience. The American presidents are in blue and red, the Nobel Peace Prize winners are in green, and all the remaining posters are in 9 other colors. Complete instructions for accessing the materials on Google Drive™ are provided in a PDF folder, which for your convenience includes all the material except the actual quotations.

Help your students focus on peace, not war or strife, with these colorful quotations by people from throughout history and around the world!
