This is a fun, spring-themed way to practice contractions!
Students match cards to form the two words of the contraction (duck and bunny cards), then find the contraction card (peep cards) that the two words make!
You can differentiate in a number of ways:
*use all the cards for an overall review of contractions
*use a partial set to focus on certain contractions (for example: not and is)
*start a discussion on why some contractions look the same, but according to the context of how they are used, they are different (for example: I'd = I had, I would, I should)....the possibilities are endless!
Each word is only on one card to avoid a cumbersome pack of cards. You can use these cards as a matching game, a center, small group intervention or introduction, or even as a scavenger hunt where students have to find the two words that form the contraction! Its uses are only limited by your imagination!
