One best-practice strategy is peer-coaching. This is a guideline on how students can coach a peer while using mutual respect. Pass a copy out to each partner group. When peer-coaches understand that they are an important key in assisting their classmate to understand concepts in the classroom, they are great assistants for teachers. And when the students who are being coached realize that they are respected by their peer-coaches, they become comfortable and receptive to what their classmates are teaching them. This creates a student led approach in which the teacher can monitor and facilitate.
