Get more out of your peer editing activities! Students can feel overwhelmed editing a whole piece of writing all at once. With this method teachers can assign different editing jobs based on student strengths to get the most value of peer editing time. This template is ready for groups of 4 to check each others work. Assign all group members a job and have them choose an editing color (I like to use a colored pencil.) When they are ready they switch writing papers and edit only for their area of expertise (ex. spelling.) When they finish they initial or sign the group paper and switch with the next person in their group. I encourage my students to edit their own writing last to give them fresh eyes when they go to edit.
