I've been trying for YEARS to prefect peer editing with my eighth graders. I was finally able to put something together that combines the best elements of all the peer editing and peer response activities that I've used throughout the years. Kind of like a best practices of peer editing.
This activity combines peer read alouds, writer reflections, and good ol' traditional peer editing. I've used this activity with my struggling eighth graders, and they absolutely love it. They are engaged in content, working collaboratively, sharing ideas, and helping me grade. What's not to love?
This assignment is in full alignment with the Common Core State Standards, as it emphasizes: collaboration, close reading, and speaking and listening skills.
This activity comes with teacher directions and an unlocked, fully editable worksheet that you can tweak to fit the needs of your grade level and student needs.
