It is important to emphasize the need for students to go back over their work and check for mistakes both by themselves and with a peer. This two-in-one checklist allows for that. The self editing checklist asks students to READ to Revise their own writing, focusing on rearranging details, exchanging weak words for strong words, adding new details, and deleting unnecessary details. The peer editing checklist then asks another student to use CUPS to Edit with a focus on capitalization, usage, punctuation, and spelling. Make sure to model these two strategies multiple times with students.
