I love file folder activities! All of my file folder activities can be used without using a file folder, but I prefer the file folder. You can work through them as a small group activity (which I definitely recommend), then place in a center or have students complete as you do individual data collection – plus they are easy to store! My file folder activities include various activities such as listening for sounds, completing words with sounds (use a dry erase marker or grease pencil), and/or sorting by syllable type or syllable division. Each folder activity also includes a fluency page for the back cover, and a worksheet. File folder activities have to be meaningful and I hope I have accomplished it with these activities!
For this file folder activity, students match 2 closed syllables to make 1 real word. A worksheet is included for listing the words, dividing the words into syllables, and marking the vowels. Additionally, a “fluency” page to be mounted on the back of the folder can be used for additional practice.
