Kids LOVE these. Pencil Puzzle Mysteries are a great classroom activity. The Monsters Puzzle Pack contains 12 puzzles of various fun monsters.
They are perfect for:
- Early finishers
- Rainy Day / Snow Day / Heat Day / Indoor activity.
- Quiet time activity.
- Teacher rewards for good schoolwork.
- They are also a great introduction to graphing and coordinate systems.
- They train eye focus and practice plotting without the student knowing he’s learning.
Puzzles have 3 different skill levels. The precision and patience required to complete a puzzle increases with the skill level. They develop concentration, pattern matching, memory, eye control, hand/finger control, positive/negative visual relationships and graphing.
If there is a mistake in the picture it’s obvious so if you have students who are rushers or sloppy, these puzzles give immediate feedback. Since they are fun to do students don't take much encouragement to correct their work and be more careful next time.
Puzzles take from 20 to 40 minutes to do. Use them for early finishers, math centers, good work rewards, and substitutes.
You can also play group games with them, calling grid coordinates, bingo-style, to see who can figure out the mystery picture the quickest. You can challenge advanced players by having them reverse the black and white squares which will reveal the mystery picture as a negative image.
How To Play
Puzzle clues are scattered across the page. Each small grid is labeled with the position of where it goes in the big grid. For instance 2-H or 7-G. Use a pencil to color the squares on the big grid to match the dark squares in the clue. As you fill in the squares the mystery picture is revealed.
