This adorable penguin game features all addition facts through 10+10. This game will help your students to develop fluency with addition facts to build a strong foundation for future multi-digit addition problems. It would be perfect for a math center, partner work or even an indoor recess activity. These cards can be used to play either Memory or Go Fish. If you would like to focus on math vocabulary, you can encourage your students to use the word "sum" when finding a match. There are two versions included: color and black and white.
Memory: 2-4 Players. Choose which facts you would like your students to work on and spread those cards (and their matches) face down. Players take turns flipping two cards to see if they match. If they match, they keep them and go again. To help focus on vocabulary, I like to encourage my students to say "the sum of 3 + 5 equals 8" when they find a match. If they do not match, they flip them back over and the next player goes. The game continues until all cards are used up. The player with the most matches wins
Go Fish: 2- 4 players. Deal 5 cards to each player. The extra cards go in a face down pile in the middle. Players take turns asking for either the sum or the fact. “Do you have the sum 14?” or “Do you have a fact that has a sum of 6?” If they do, then they must hand over the card. If not, the player is told to “go fish” and they draw a card from the pile. The game continues until all cards are used up. The player with the most matches wins.
