Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose six words from the word cards and write them in the /ou/ sound or /oi/ sound columns. Write sentences using three of them.
Pages 14-16: Word Work (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students say and write eight words from the word cards. Make sure they spell them correctly. Use three of the words to write sentences.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the realistic story poster on our class focus wall. This helps remind students what realistic stories are). Write a realistic story using at least three sentences about someone who helps a relative or a friend.
Pages 19-21: Words To Know (I laminate the word cards). Students choose five words from the word cards. Write the words and circle the prefix or suffix in each word. Use a dictionary to find the meaning and write a sentence using the word.
Page 22: Read For Meaning (Read a Leveled Reader. Write three sentences that tell the author’s purpose with support from the story).
Page 23: I included a portion of Penguin Chick for students to read for fluency.
