Find a Partner
Use these cards for students to pair up for an activity. Make two copies of the same set for students to match identically with their partner. This activity requires students to focus on visual details.
Or you can make copies of two different sets. Students then are looking at similarities and differences when finding their partner.
When using the set with names, students can learn the names of the various penguins. (I had to leave out one penguin. I chose to leave out the Little Blue as it provided the least challenge in matching.)
These cards can also be used as a Concentration type game. I think I would always include at least one set with the penguin names for this activity. Students would then need to name the penguin pair that was found.
These cards could also be used to sort the penguins by common characteristics. The penguins could also be sorted into the penguin groups to which each belongs.
Great Penguins: Emperor and King
Brush-Tailed Penguins: Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo
Banded Penguins: Magellanic, Humboldt, Galapagos, African
