Have some winter fun with 4 penguin math activities for young children.
Penguin Counting Mat
Use fish crackers or fish cards to practice the concept of simple addition. Place a few cards or crackers in each of the first two squares. Count the crackers in each box. Then slide the crackers from the two squares into the equals square and count the total.
Feed the Penguin
Roll a die and feed the penguin that number of fish crackers or fish cards! If you choose to use crackers you may eat them when the penguin has been fed all the fish!
Fish and Penguin Number Match
Use fish and penguin cards as flashcards, to play a memory match game or hide the fish around the room and have children bring them to the matching penguin on the floor or table.
Penguin Positional Page
Use marshmallows (for snowballs) or cotton balls. To play have children listen to cues and place snowballs on the correct spot on the page.
