This game is perfect for your winter literacy centers. It can be played as a pocket chart game or on the floor or table.
Included are 18 cards - 9 matching sets. Each boy penguin has a matching rhyme on a girl penguin. Also included is a recording sheet for your students to draw and write (by stretching out the sounds) the matches they made.
You can play two ways:
1. Have the students match up the cards and then record their matches. If you would like to make the game self correcting you can back each pair in matching scrapbooking or colored paper before laminating.
2. Play Memory - turn all the cards upside down and have each student turn over two cards at a time. They will have to decide if the two pictures rhyme. If they do they keep the set. If they don't, they put them back face down. When all the cards have been matched up the player with the most wins.
Simply laminate the pages, cut out the cards, make as many copies as your need of the recording page and you are ready to go!
