Reinforce sight words, reading quotations, fluency, drawing and writing beginning, middle, and end, and sorting with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "Penguin's Friend" mini book practices the sight words little, was, I, will, go, look, my, saw, that, is, not, said. It also contains the names of animals that live in Antarctica. The story features predictable text and follows little penguin on a search for his friend. In response, students will draw a picture showing what happened at the beginning, middle, and end, and write a sentence to match each picture. They will also recall animals that live in Antarctica. Given a scene of Antarctica, students will cut and glue only animals that live there, into the picture. Also included are fluency sentences, where students will read each and glue the animal that matches.
