Here is a lab that is great for teaching about the properties of water, or for teaching about intermolecular forces. In this lab students will be investigating cohesive properties of water and other substances, as well as surface tension.
Students will be doing a control experiment, and then researching and designing their own inquiry experiment to figure out how to increase the amount of drops of liquid on a penny.
This lab teaches about intermolecular forces, surface tension, cohesion, controls, variables, and good lab practices.
Takes approximately 2-55 minute class periods.
