This lab prompts students to develop a hypothesis, a procedure then test as an early introduction to inquiry in a PreAP Chemistry classroom.
Students will compare densites of pennies pre and post 1982 and then through research will determine the whys.
Students will develop a procedure to answer the driving question. Teacher needs to provide equipment such as a scale and graduated cylinder. The set up is minimal and an easy way to also introduce lab expectations.
Students can produce a variety of products, such as a report or a poster.
