For use when studying The Beatles song Penny Lane, a set of 10 photographs and 2 maps showing how Penny Lane, Liverpool looks today with a set of notes to go with the pictures.
Penny Lane is an exciting resource when studying The Beatles, the 1960s, Liverpool or the UK. I have used it in History topics covering the 1960s and Geography topics looking at Liverpool and in Art lessons. Because of its vivid, nostalgic, descriptions, I like to use Penny Lane as a stimulus for an Art lesson in which students draw the Penny Lane that they imagine on hearing the song. I also like to encourage children to make inferences based on the information provided in the lyrics.
I can't provide the lyrics but I make recommendations in the teacher's notes on where to find these. I include 12 A4 photo cards in both pdf and jpg formats with accompanying notes.
