Played the same way as traditional war. There are 4 of each sum of 1-10 cents. The student will take turns flipping over the cards and deciding who has the larger amount. The student with the larger number should say, “___ cents is larger than ___ cents”. They should agree/disagree and play again, until someone is left with no cards.
I print these on cardstock, double-sided, color the pennies, and laminate them. Then I put then in a small Tupperware container and let me kids use them during math groups, when finished early, and indoor recess. This is a great way to practice the skills of identifying money, counting money, counting to ten, and good sportsmanship.
