The product, Penny Water Drop Lab , is a quick and fun experiment students can do in science. The lab is easy without expensive materials or huge prep. All that is needed is a penny, water dropper, and napkins or paper towels… oh and a little water.
The Penny Water Drop Lab document is a two-page PDF hand-out. The first side is the lab itself, with detailed instructions for students to easily follow. A chart is included at the bottom of the first page for students to keep track of data. The backside has some follow up questions for students to dig a little further into the results. I have used this lab at the beginning of the school year when working with science process skills. The lab is also valuable when studying water or surface tension. Addiitonally, students can analyze the data using mean, median, and mode so this lab would work well in a math center.
