This webquest is intended to teach students about Pentecost. The webquest starts by having students watch a 3.5 minute video on Pentecost and answer 9 questions based on the video they watched. The information covered includes Pentecost as a Greek word meaning 50 days. Pentecost occuring 50 days after Easter is a celebration as the Catholic Church's birthday, as well as a Jewish holiday. This website also goes through the events of Pentecost as the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles and the first members of the Catholic Church and the miracle of speaking in tongues. This part of the webquest also covers Peter as the first pope of the Catholic Church and Pentecost serving as the baptism of the first Catholics. The second part of this webquest has students visit a website to identify the Pentecost traditions celebrated throughout the world by Catholics. The final section of this webquest sends students to a third website to learn about the gifts of the Holy Spirit that were given the the first Catholics on Pentecost, and continue to be given to all Catholics through Baptism and Confirmation. Websites are provided using both an active link and a QR code. This can be pushed out digitally using the active link or used as a worksheet where students have access to a device that can scan a QR code (IPad or phone). An answer key is provided.
