Here's the deal: you want your kids to do challenging puzzles with interesting shapes (I'm talking to >you<, pattern blocks!) but the problem is that many of these puzzles are waaaay too hard for your pre-K through 1st graders. Even a 2 piece pentomino puzzle would require sorting through 66 combinations of 12 different pentomino pieces before locating the correct pair to make the shape.
This is an advanced version of my other set of pentomino challenges, Pentomino Challenges for the Early Learners: Pre-K through 1st Grade
There are 4 different levels of challenge for Kindergarten through 2nd grade in this set. The first set of 5 puzzles requires 5 pieces to solve, and the pieces are shown.
The second set also uses 5 pieces to solve, but the only clue is one or two pieces that would complete the puzzle. The student will need to locate the other 3 - 4 pieces needed to finish the puzzle.
The third set of puzzles uses 6 - 8 pieces, and the pieces needed are shown; however, they are not actual side, so the student will have to match them up before attempting the puzzles.
The final set of 5 puzzles show different sized rectangles that use anywhere from 6 - 9 pieces to assemble. The student will have to figure out both which pieces to use and how many.
Use them and enjoy!
