This set includes a presentation and practice. The presentation teaches students how to "translate" from an English sentence into an equation (a math sentence). Using this strategy, they can solve any problem involving percents.
Practice problems and examples are included in the presentation. Basic questions follow the formats "What percent of 45 is 5?," "What is 20 percent of 130?," "6 is 13 percent of what number?," etc. Real-life application questions (word problems) are also included with varying difficulty levels.
A handy chart reminds students how to convert each piece of the question into mathematical language for their equation. This can be posted in the classroom as a reference.
The types of percent problems covered here are very common on standardized tests. Students love having a strategy that will work for every different way that percent questions are asked.
