Included in this zip file are 7 Power Point files. 2 files are introductory lessons for whole class instruction and 5 files are assignments. A brief description of each:
Intro #1 is a 20 slide intro to percent mixture problems. 2 problems are analyzed and broken into 3 true 2 variable linear equations. One of the equations is eliminated and Cramer's rule is used to solve them. You could use any method in your class.
Intro #2 is a 28 slide intro to value problems. 1 problem involves coins and the other involves mixing a cheap and expensive brand of coffee. 2 true 2 variable linear equations are made and solved by Cramer's rule. You could use any method in your classroom.
Assignment #1 is a 1 page 24 question short answer and multiple choice assignment. The student:
1. Finds the amount of substance in a mixture like "80 gallons of a 20% acid solution is how much water?"
2. Identifies a true equation from "there are 20 more dimes than nickels present"
3. Finds the amount of a substance after a mixture like "If 5 gallons of pure vinegar is mixed with a 10 gallons of a 30% vinegar solution, what percent vinegar is the mixture?

Assignment #4 is a 1 page written assignment. There are 8 problems. Some are mixture problems and some are value problems. Each require writing at least 2, 2 variable linear equations and could solved by the method of your choice.
